Quant Interview Review Template

A simple quant interview review template for practice sessions, mocks, missed problems, repair drills, and retests.

Candidates who need a repeatable post-practice review format.

Use six fields

A practical review template needs only six fields: prompt, intended method, result, miss cause, repair drill, and retest date. Anything more is optional. The template should make the next session obvious.

Write the miss cause precisely

Avoid vague notes like "bad probability." Write "used ordered count for unordered hand" or "forgot base rate." Precise causes are easier to repair and easier to spot when they repeat.

Assign one repair drill

Every meaningful miss should create one drill. If the miss was Bayes, do three base-rate variants. If it was explanation, redo the solved problem aloud. Keep repair small enough to complete.

Concrete template example

Prompt: expected value of rerolling a die. Method: threshold comparison. Result: wrong threshold. Cause: compared to 3.5 but forgot option value after seeing first roll. Repair: three one-reroll stopping problems. Retest: mixed EV set Friday.

Review mocks separately

For mocks, add communication, hint use, and recovery. A mock can be technically correct but weak if the interviewer cannot follow the model. Capture that directly.

Common mistakes

Candidates often write long postmortems and never use them. The best review template is short, specific, and tied to the next practice block.

Practice the pattern
